He is an Alberta Land Surveyor and a Professional Engineer with his B.Sc. in Geomatics Engineering.
Mr. Shaw began his survey career in the early 90‘s while working in photogrammetry at Aero Geometrics Ltd.. This inspired him to pursue a Geomatics Engineering degree at the University of Calgary, graduating in 1997. Upon graduation, he spent 5 years working at Loeppky & Associates and then subsequent purchaser Stantec Geomatics. During this time, his work focus was on residential survey projects within City of Calgary and surrounding jurisdictions. Throughout his tenure with Stantec, Mr. Shaw obtained his ALS commission as well as Professional Designation with APEGA in 2001. In 2002, Mr. Shaw joined Caltech Surveys Ltd. and gained valuable experience in oilfield surveying. Mr. Shaw was a senior Project Manager, Owner, Director and Alberta Operations Manager during his 12 years with Caltech. Mr. Shaw spent 2015-2017 with Kellam Berg Engineering and Surveys Ltd. focusing on residential projects before joining Lovse in 2017.
Mr. Shaw has managed thousands of land surveying projects affecting land development in and around The City of Calgary and oilfield surveying projects across Alberta. Responsibilities have included technical and project management relating to Subdivisions, Real Property Reports, Wellsites and Pipelines. Mr. Shaw has gained vast business experience as a past owner and director.
Jay is in charge of our field operations, and heads the survey division of the company. Jay has been with Lovse for almost 30 years.
